Transmitter Site Construction:

AM Transmitter Sites:

Overview:

Whether your need is for a simple 1 KW non-directional 1/4-wave stick, or for a multi-tower, multi-station diplexed array, MP&A can bring to the table extensive experience with all aspects of AM transmitter site construction.  We hold a Louisiana Contractors License for Telecommunications, and can serve as General Contractor for your site, or we can supply you with just the technical expertise you need to complete a project handled by a local contractor.  Whether we are the GC or a sub, we strive to ensure that all work under our supervision is done to industry standards or above, and in a fully safe manner.  Our personnel are OSHA-certified for workplace safety concerns.

Towers and Buildings:

MP&A works with several reputable tower erection crews to ensure that the tower work at your site is done right and proper safety guidelines are followed.  MP&A recommends the use of concrete-aggregate pre-fab buildings, which can be pre-built on our lot or built-out at your site.

FM Transmitter Sites:

Overview:

MP&A has built or rebuilt dozens of FM transmitting facilities over the years, including major installations in Houston, Dallas, Mobile, Denver, Sacramento, Greensboro, NC, Wichita, KS, Memphis, and many others.  When one is a General Contractor, as we often are, the buck stops with us, and we have learned that seeing the "big picture" is just as important as attention to detail; both are key to a reliable and efficient installation.  MP&A has learned when to bring in outside help and when it's better to develop needed expertise within the company.  We've learned when to use local subcontractors for certain work (and how to find good ones in unfamiliar territory) and when to bring in "the pros from Dover", despite the added expense of travel and lodging.  The average station engineer might get to oversee a new installation a few times in his career; we oversee several every year!

RF Coax Plumbing:

We have honed our techniques for large coax "plumbing" to a science.  One of our associates has even developed an app that automatically calculates all coax component cuts for a given installation, which minimizes errors in metal cutting, thus reducing waste and improving efficiency.

Remote Control Systems:

Since essentially all transmitter sites are unattended these days, and first-responders are often significant distances from the sites they are responsible for, the ability of the remote control system to accurately and comprehensively reflect actual conditions at the site--normal or abnormal--has become crucial to making good initial decisions as to how to react to failures.  MP&A has built or upgraded many remote control, AM, FM and TV, and we know what to monitor and to control, and how to make the maximum amount of crucial data available to the engineer or operator on the other end of the phone line or network link. Modern internet-connected remote control units have sophisticated capabilities to monitor, log, notify personnel, and even make basic decisions regarding emergency conditions - but only if they have been carefully configured and tested. We have the know-how to make this happen, so your remote transmitter site can be almost at your fingertips, saving crucial time and allowing you to make appropriate decisions in the crunch.
